Liberty Bell Tapping, JFK Parkway Shooting

Independence Day in Philadelphia wouldn't be complete without the annual tapping of the Liberty Bell. The annual tapping of the bell honors the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the 56 signers. Eight decedents of four of the signers were joined by some lawmakers and two new U.S. citizens who wore white gloves and lightly tapped this symbol of freedom and hope 13 times to represent the 13 original colonies.

Philadelphia Police opened fire on a suspect in Center City Wednesday night, after they say he pulled a gun on them. The shooting happened a little after 9 p.m. just blocks away from the Wawa America Festival at 17th Street and JFK Parkway. Authorities say the suspect shot a man in the leg at 16th Street and the Parkway moments before.

Flags waiving, bands playing and a wedding ceremony kicked off Audubon’s Fourth of July celebration. For newlyweds Sean and Amanda Dreeland, who were originally talking about a quiet backyard wedding, this couldn’t have been more perfect. Sean got down on one knee in February and in honor of his new job, he proposed marrying his bride on a tow truck. So with the town cheering them on, the two lead the parade exchanging their vows. This is the second year in a row Mayor John Ward has performed a wedding during the 4th of July parade.
