One person is dead and two others are injured after a three-car accident in East Falls. One 25-year-old woman who was driving had to be extricated from her vehicle. She later died from her injuries at the hospital. In the other vehicle was a 64-year-old man who suffered from a head injury and a 50-year-old woman who suffered injuries to her leg, arm and chest. Both are in stable condition at this time.

The man who allegedly threw hot coffee on a Fresh Donuts shop employee in a dispute over $2.40 turned himself in. Fifty-two-year-old David Timbers showed up at police headquarters with his lawyer yesterday. Timbers is being charged with aggravated and simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

A Delaware County woman, Edna Escher-Gaston of Swarthmore, has won the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s “Best Mom on Wheels” nationwide contest. The competition honors women living with paralysis. Gaston has been in a wheel chair since 1981 when she was injured in a car crash. She went on to co-found Barrier Awareness of Delaware County and was one of the initial signers of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
