Joyce Craig-Lewis Remembered, Coin and Collectable Robbery, Richard Plotts Pleads Not Guilty

People gathered in front of Engine 64 Tuesday night to reflect and pay their respects to Joyce Craig-Lewis, the fallen Philadelphia firefighter who lost her life in the line of duty. Neighbors organized the event, and some of her colleagues told the crowd about Lewis. Many of the people from the area who came out did not personally know Lewis, but they say knowing one of the people who helped keep them safe has died hurts. During the vigil local pastors said prayers and gave words of comfort to the crowd.

Police are searching for two men wanted in connection with a robbery at the Coin and Collectable store, at the 2100 block of Street Road in the Bensalem Plaza Shopping Center. Two men, armed with a large knife and pipe, allegedly tied up two employees during the robbery. A customer, who walked into the store during the robbery, was assaulted and also tied up. The suspects broke several glass display cases with a hammer and stole various coins and other items from the cases. Police say a knife was left at the scene.

A man accused of fatally shooting his caseworker and grazing his psychiatrist before the doctor returned fire has pleaded not guilty. 49-year-old Richard Plotts is charged with murder, reckless endangerment and weapons offenses in the July shooting death of 53-year-old Theresa Hunt inside a psychiatrist’s office at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, just outside Philadelphia.
