Wednesday night, more than 1,000 people attended a candlelight vigil at Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, Atlantic County, mourning the loss of a dedicated student athlete whose life was cut short after a car crash. Members of the Mainland Regional Girls Soccer Team wrapped their arms around Aisling Cooke's mother after presenting her with the incoming freshman's #4 soccer jersey. They gathered for a moment of silence, then lit candles on the field, all to remember the 14-year-old who died just one day before her first day of high school. Cooke succumbed to her injuries she suffered in crash on Saturday. She was in a car with four teammates in Mays Landing on their way to a charity soccer tournament when a truck going in the opposite direction on NJ Route 40 crossed the yellow line.

Police are investigating after the body of a man was found inside of a burning car in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood Wednesday night. A man was found in the passenger side of a car that was set on fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police are investigating if it could be connected to a shooting that happened earlier Wednesday on Roselyn Street.

A young man fighting cancer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has become a YouTube sensation. His covers of two songs by rapper Jay Z are helping to shine light on the daily difficulties faced by cancer patients. Tom Gillin, penned and performs a Jay Z-inspired spoof called ‘Bald So Hard.” Nineteen-year-old Tom lost his hair, but not his humor or lyric writing talent to cancer treatments for AML, a form of Leukemia. In less than a week his music video has 20,000 YouTube views and counting. Gillin wants to meet Jay Z, some day, mostly to have him spread the word about cancer.
