Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect wanted for raping a woman at gunpoint on a subway platform early Monday morning, 7/18. It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Snyder station of the Broad Street Line on the 2100 block of S. Broad Street. The 40-year-old victim was at the station with her 46-year-old boyfriend when the suspect approached the pair. The woman was trying on some clothes at the time. The suspect pointed the gun at her back and also at the boyfriend and demanded sex. He fled the scene on a bicycle. The suspect is described as a Black male, mid 20 years-of-age, 5' 6", 160 lbs, light brown or hazel eyes, wearing a grey NASA hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white sneakers, medical mask and was armed with a black handgun with a green slide and an extended magazine and was riding a bicycle. If you have any information call 215.686.TIPS (8477).

SEPTA released this statement:

"SEPTA knows that riders have concerns about safety and security on the system, and we are addressing them. We are working to increase the visibility of police officers on the system and are actively recruiting new candidates to the SEPTA Transit Police Department. Last month, SEPTA reached an agreement with the FOTP on salary increases for officers that will help with efforts to recruit and retain talented officers.

"In addition to traditional policing, SEPTA has added social workers to help connect members of the vulnerable population with housing and medical services. There are also new outreach specialists deployed on the Market-Frankford and Broad Street Lines to reinforce the rules for riding and serve as eyes and ears for SEPTA Police. When there is an incident on the system, police have access to video from more than 28,000 cameras to aid in investigations and identify offenders."

A Michigan man was arrested for firing his weapon after a car accident on the interstate in Delaware on Sunday evening, 7/17. 25-year-old Kirby Richards of Flint has been charged with two counts of reckless endangering 1st degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and criminal mischief greater than $1,000. It happened around 6:45 p.m. on I-295 South in New Castle. Richards was the passenger of a car that was involved in a minor accident. It was struck 4 times. The victim fled and called 911. Richards remained at the scene and was taken into custody. He is being held at Howard R. Correctional Institute on a $33,000 secured bond.
