Firefighters are battling a large junkyard fire in Falls Township, Bucks County, on Thursday, 6/30. It started around 1 p.m. near Middle Drive and Solar Drive. A large pile of scrap is burning, sending heavy flames and black smoke into the air. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Berks County mother is in custody after her 3-year-old died at home early Thursday morning, 6/30. Solange White is charged with criminal homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated assault. It happened around 3:40 a.m. when police responded to the 100 block of W. 46th Street for a call about an unresponsive toddler. They found a person inside giving CPR. The baby also had "visible bruising and marks" on her neck which were "consistent with strangulation-type injuries." The baby girl was taken to Reading Hospital and pronounced dead. White was also taken to the hospital. The baby's father and a 1-year-old were also in the home at the time. Authorities are investigating the circumstances and cause of death.
