Republican Jack Ciattarelli conceded the New Jersey gubernatorial race on Friday, 11/12, in a surprisingly close contest with incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy. Ciattarelli held off conceding since Election Day, 11/2, while provisional and mail-in ballot were tallied. "Let me be clear, no one on this team is alleging fraud or malfeasance, as we have not seen any credible evidence of that," said Ciattarelli's legal counsel Mark Sheridan. They will not be requesting a recount. Ciattarelli says he'll run again in four years. Murphy becomes the first New Jersey Democratic governor to be reelected in 44 years.

A man who recently traveled to space with Star Trek actor William Shatner on a Blue Origin flight was killed in a small plane crash in New Jersey on Friday afternoon, 11/12. Troopers responded around 2:50 p.m. to a state park near Lake Kemah in Hampton Township, Sussex County. The single-engine Cesna 172 plane was discovered in a wooded area. It had taken off from Essex County Airport and was headed to Sussex Airport. New Jersey State Police said that both men on board had died, 49-year-old Glen De Vries and 54-year-old Thomas Fischer. De Vries, the CEO of Medidata, had just launched into space one month ago, 10/13. Fischer was the head instructor of family-run flight school Fischer Aviation. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
