A Bronx, New York couple has been sentenced for their roles in an attack on a teenage Sesame Place employee in August 2020. 40-year-old Troy McCoy was sentenced to five to 10 years in state prison. He had been found guilty of aggravated assault and other charges. 32-year-old Shakerra Bonds was sentenced to four to 20 months in county jail. She had been found guilty of simple assault. It happened on August 9, 2020 at the amusement park in Langhorne, Bucks County. The 17-year-old park employee reminded the couple that they had to wear a mask or face covering while inside the child-themed amusement park. Later in the day, while the employee was working at another ride, the same couple approached and attacked the boy. They sucker-punched him in the face, breaking his jaw and damaging a tooth. He was taken to St. Mary Medical Center where he remained for a week after having his jaw wired shut. The couple fled the park, but police were able to track them using their park registration and their car's license plate.

An 8-year-old boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion section on Monday afternoon, 10/25. It happened around 4:20 p.m. at 33rd and Huntingdon streets. The boy, identified as Ja-Kha House, was crossing the street with his mother when he was hit by a white Buick Enclave. Police say that Ja-Kha was thrown 25 feet. He was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where he died from his injuries at 5:16 p.m. The SUV kept driving after the accident. It was found abandoned around 7:15 p.m. on the 4000 block of Balwynne Park Road in West Philadelphia. Two men were seen running from the vehicle. It had three bullet holes in the driver's side window. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of the 26th District.

A Jefferson University Hospital worker that shot and killed his co-worker and also shot an injured two Philadelphia police officers has been deemed unfit and incompetent to stand trial by a court-appointed psychiatrist. 55-year-old Stacy Hayes will be committed to Norristown State Hospital to receive treatment. The criminal case has been paused. The court will reevaluate Hayes' status in December. It happened just after midnight on October 4 at Jefferson University Hospital in Center City. Hayes entered the hospital in scrubs and body armor carrying an AR-15 and handgun. He shot and killed a fellow male certified nursing aide, 43-year-old Anrae James of Elkins Park. He fled in a U-Haul truck. Police were flagged down by a passerby about an hour later in Philadelphia's Parkside neighborhood. Hayes opened fire on police who then returned fire. Two officers were struck and are expected to recover. Hayes was also hit by police gunfire and was taken to the hospital. Hayes had previously had his firearms seized by police. He had them returned after petitioning the court.
