SEPTA has released a guide in the event of a service interruption due to a strike by union transit workers. On Sunday, 10/24, the Transit Workers Union Local 234 unanimously voted to authorize a strike if a deal for a new contract could not be reached. The current contract expires on October 31. A strike could happen as early as Monday, 11/1. TWU Local 234 represents 5,000 workers. Both sides will continue to negotiate to reach a deal this week. The union is looking for better wages, maternity leave, assistance to families of workers who died for COVID-19, and safer working conditions. The strike only affects city transit such as buses, trolleys, and subways. It does not affect Regional Rail or suburban buses. See the guide for more details and to plan for a possible disruption of services starting next week.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Pemberton Township Police Chief David King announced the charges on Monday. Johnson had turned himself in on Friday, 10/22. It happened around 11:35 p.m. on the 100 block of Snow Avenue. Johnson and 17-year-old Malachi Treherne were having an argument. Johnson pulled out a gun and shot Treherne twice in the head. He also shot a 17-year-old girl at least once in the chest. She was taken to to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. She has since been released. There were other people in the house at the time, including a 2-year-old, but no one else was injured. Johnson is being held at Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly. The case will be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment.
