Philadelphia Police have identified the suspect and the victim in a deadly shooting at a North Philadelphia office building late Friday morning, 10/1. 59-year-old Wayne John Dorylis of Milford, Delaware, has been charged with murder, causing/risking a catastrophe, and several other weapons charges in the death of 25-year-old Nassir Day. It happened around 11:30 a.m. at Logan Plaza on the 5200 block of Old York Road in the Logan neighborhood. Day was working as a security guard at the building and was shot in the head and died at the scene. Police officers treated it as an active shooter situation. Dorylis was found and taken into custody on the third floor without incident. They also recovered three "spring shot" style homemade guns and two spent shotgun shells. Dorylis had posted deadly threats on social media against Pathways to Housing which is located in that building.

One person is dead and another injured after a double shooting outside a Wawa in South Philadelphia on Friday night, 10/1. It happened around 11:30 at the Southport Shopping Plaza on the 1600 block of Christopher Columbus Boulevard. A 35-year-old was shot in the chest. They were taken to Jefferson University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 12:22 a.m. A 24-year-old man was shot in the foot. Over a dozen shots were fired. No arrests were made and no weapons were recovered.

Shots were fired near a New Jersey high school football game on Friday night, 10/1. It happened just before 9 p.m. near Cherry Hill High School West during their game against Bridgeton High School. The shots were fired in a residential area near Fulton Street and Weld Street. 8 shell casings were found. There are no confirmed victims. Cherry Hill police and the Camden County Prosecutors office are investigating.

No fans were allowed at Friday night's, 10/1, football game at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in Upper Darby against Neumann-Goretti. School officials cited recent incidents at other sporting events and concerning social media posts in making the decision. They hoped to stave off any altercations. Parents, students, and community members were not allowed to attend.

Sports
The Philadelphia 76ers withheld $8.25 million from Ben Simmons that he was due to be paid on Friday, 10/1. That is roughly 25% of his annual salary. The money was placed in an escrow account. Any additional fines that Simmons accrues will be deducted from that account. Simmons has made it clear that he does not want to play for the Sixers and does not intend to report. Training camp began this past week and he did not show. The first pre-season game is Monday, October 4. He would be fined his game salary of $227,000 for each game he does not come to play.
