One man is injured after an argument inside Chickie's and Pete's in Mayfair led to a shootout outside the bar/restaurant. It happened just before 8 p.m. on the 4000 block of Robbins Avenue near Frankford Avenue. A 23-year-old man and his girlfriend were dining outside. She went inside to use a restroom when a group of three guys started to harass her. The boyfriend, who has a license to carry, confronted the group and showed his gun. They all went outside and a gun battle broke out. The 23-year-old boyfriend was hit in the abdomen. He was taken to Jefferson-Frankford Hospital in critical but stable condition. Police say that 8 shots were fired, although they don't know who fired the first one. Police are searching for the three other men, in the early 20s, maybe driving a white Nissan Maxima. No arrests have been made.

A man was shot and critically injured on SEPTA bus in Center City early Thursday morning, 7/15. It happened around 1 a.m. at Broad and Chestnut, a block south of City Hall. The bus driver heard the shots, stopped, and opened the door. There were 15 passengers aboard the time who all exited the bus and fled. The 29-year-old victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition. "We know the shooting happened on the bus, inside the bus. We found one spent shell casing on the floor in the rear of the bus. We also found a loaded magazine, a clip on the floor in the rear of the bus," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. Police are looking into the surveillance footage from the bus. They are also asking any passengers to come forward and provide information. They had all left the scene leaving no witnesses.

A 10-year-old boy is recovering after being rescued from a Philadelphia pool on Thursday, 7/15. It happened just before 5 p.m. on the 300 block of N. 57th Street at Haverford Field Park Pool. The boy was swimming in the pool when his father turned his head for a moment and the boy went under water. Lifeguards pulled him from the water and responding police officers from the 19th District performed CPR. The boy began to breathe on his own and was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition. There was some controversy over the way lifeguards handled the rescue. Witnesses say that they were reluctant to perform mouth-to-mouth CPR on the boy either out of fear of COVID-19 or just being squeamish. "They didn't want to do CPR because they didn't have the plastic piece," Rashida Wragg says. "They were concerned about COVID or something? I believe so, but COVID is out when there is a child involved."
