| 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Announced; Upper Darby's Todd Rundgren and more |

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH, announced this year's inductees to the hall. This year includes Philadelphia's own Todd Rundgren, Tina Tuner, Carole King, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, and The Go-Go's in the Performer Category. The Early Influence Award goes to Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, and Gil Scott-Herron. The Musical Excellence Award goes to LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads. Rock Hall's 2021 Ahmet Ertegun Award - an award for industry professionals like songwriters, journalists, producers and executives - goes to Clarence Avant. Carole King and Tina Turner become the second and third females inducted twice joining Stevie Nicks. Dave Grohl will also become a twice-inducted member, previously being inducted with Nirvana. Foo Fighters, The Go-Go's, and Jay-Z were nominated for the first time this year.
The other nominees eligible on this year's ballot included: Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Iron Maiden, Chaka Khan, Fela Kuti, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, and Dionne Warwick
Artists are first considered eligible for inclusion 25 years after their first release. Ballots are sent to 1,200 members of the music industry to vote. The Rock Hall selects the top vote getters with at least 50% of the votes for inclusion, usually 5-7 each year. The public also gets a vote. All of the public votes are tallied to create a ballot alongside the industry votes.
The 36th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on October 30 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio with a radio simulcast on SiriusXM’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Radio channel 310. The Induction Ceremony will air at a later date on HBO and stream on HBO Max. Tickets go on sale to the public and members in July.
