Citizens Bank Park COVID Rules Phillies Opening Day; Krispy Kreme Free Donut; Rally for Solidarity

Opening Day for the Philadelphia Phillies is only a week away on April 1 vs the Atlanta Braves. This will be the first time that fans will be allowed back in the stands since October 2019. Current coronavirus COVID-19 restrictions limit attendance to 8,800 fans. That limit will be the same for the first 19 games and will be reevaluated for future games. There will be a few changes around the ballpark for pandemic safety.

1) Masks are mandatory. Anyone 2-years-old and up must wear a mask covering the mouth and nose everywhere at the park, except when actively eating or drinking. That means sitting at your seat, too.

2) No bags or backpacks. Except for a single compartment purse, diaper bag, or medical bag. No larger than 16" x 16" x 8".

3) Touchless handsanitising stations will be placed throughout. There will be a new "Clean Team" that will clean and disinfect the stadium.

4) All your favorite food stands will be open, but now there will be cashless payments only.

5) There will be markings to help guide social distancing in the stadium. You are encouraged to practice 6 feet distance around the park.

6) All tickets are mobile. Seats are grouped in pods.

7) No tailgating will be permitted.

Krispy Kreme announced that they are giving out a free glazed donut to everyone who has received the COVID-19 vaccine. In fact, you can get a free donut every day for the rest of the year. You just have to go to one of the 369 Krispy Kreme locations across the country and show your vaccination card. There are three locations in the Philadelphia area: Havertown, Bensalem, and Collingswood, New Jersey.

The owner of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, NJ, Ian Smith, posted on Twitter in reaction to the donut chain's offer that his gym will offer free memberships to anyone who does NOT get the vaccine. Smith reopened Atliis Gym in May 2020 in defiance of Governor Murphy's closure orders. They amassed large fines keeping the doors open while fighting the constitutionality of the orders.

A few hundred people gathered at 10th and Vine Streets in Chinatown around 3 p.m. Thursday, 3/25, for the 'Philly Rally for Solidarity.' They were bringing awareness to the increase in hate against Asians and Asian-Americans and other marginalized communities. "There is an Asian-American community that has been here united, working on behalf of the city, visible and active on efforts like preserving Chinatown, fighting for funding for our public schools. And in this moment of grief and violence and sorrow, we're coming together to ask to be heard and seen in a different way," said City Councilmember Helen Gym. They then led a peaceful march to City Hall.
