A man is under arrest after attempting to rob a bank in Philadelphia on Friday afternoon, 2/26. It happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Citizens Bank branch on the 3700 block of Germantown Avenue in the Tioga section. Cell phone footage from a man across the street from the bank shows officers standing outside the front door with guns drawn. The suspect tried to run out of the bank with the money. Officers immediately tackled the man. Cash scattered on the sidewalk. The man had apparently fired a shot in the vestibule of the bank. No one was injured. A weapon was recovered.

A Philadelphia man appeared in federal court on Friday, 2/27, facing arson charges stemming from the first night of civil unrest in the city during protests over the killing of George Floyd. 29-year-old Derrick Weatherbe is charged with malicious damage by means of fire. It happened early in the morning of May 31, 2020. Authorities say that security footage from the Lowe's Home Improvement store in West Philadelphia show Weatherbe enter the store and pick up a lighter and lighter fluid. He proceeds to go to the center of the store and set a fire. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

A man from Bear, Delaware, has been arrested in connection to a shooting incident at Pat's King of Steaks in South Philadelphia at the end of last year. 22-year-old Darius Blalock is charged with firearms violations. It happened at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, 12/27, at the famous cheesesteak restaurant on the 1200 block of South 9th Street. During an argument, the male suspect can be seen taking a hand gun from the female companion's bag. He tried to get at someone, but by-standers intervened. The suspect then fired several shots into the air. The two suspects fled in a dark SUV. The incident was captured on surveillance video (see link). Police say that they found Blalock through video and tips from the public. They also say he does not have a permit to carry in either Delaware or Pennsylvania.

"It is lucky that no one was harmed during this incident. But workers, customers, and passersby were all endangered. Neighbors were terrified by this individual's criminal actions last December," District Attorney Larry Krasner said. "Philadelphia Police and Delaware law enforcement worked diligently to make sure this individual's gun ownership privileges are revoked and that he is held accountable for his actions. I also want to express gratitude to members of the public who provided information to authorities that enabled us to bring this individual to justice."
