Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia has announced that he is running for U.S. Senate in 2022. 30-year-old Kenyatta represents the 181st district which covers parts of North Philadelphia. In 2018, Kenyatta was the first openly LGBTQ person of color elected to Pennsylvania House. He joins Lt. John Fetterman and Rep. Brian Sims in the Democratic race to fill the seat that will be vacated by Republican Pat Roomey.

On Wednesday, Republican Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale announced that he will running for Governor. His brother, Sean Gale, will be running for the U.S. Senate seat.

The man at the center of a manhunt after opening fire in a Delaware County Walmart on Sunday, 2/14, has surrendered to police. 28-year-old Devante Dixon turned himself in to authorities on Thursday morning, 2/18. The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Walmart on MacDade Blvd in Glenolden. Dixon is accused of having an argument with an employee over a video game. They moved to the vestibule area of the store where Dixon allegedly fire one shot at the employee. The worker was not hit. Dixon fled the scene. Authorities believe he was involved in a domestic incident in Upper Darby before returning to his home on Main Street in Darby Borough. Police and SWAT surrounded his home in Darby for hours on Sunday, but Dixon had left before they arrived. They towed two of his cars and put out the word that he was wanted. Darby Township Police Chief Michael Sousa said of the shooting. "These two did not know each other. It was just some verbal argument that the suspect had with the employee, possibly over a video game sale, is what we have at this moment."

Pennsylvania Health official announced on Wednesday, 2/17, that around 100,000 Pennsylvanians will have their vaccination appointments rescheduled or canceled after vaccine providers used vaccine supply for first doses that was supposed to be set aside for second doses. "As the Department of Health continues to review and improve the complex processes necessary to get COVID-19 vaccine from the manufacturers into the arms of Pennsylvanians as quickly as possible, we discovered some providers inadvertently administered the Moderna vaccine shipped to them intended as second-doses as first doses," said acting Health Secretary Alison Beam. "We are taking immediate action to remedy the situation and are committed to ensuring that second doses are available." This affects those that received the Moderna vaccine. The CDC says that the minimum time between doses is 21 and 28 days, depending on which vaccine, and the maximum is 42 days. Those scheduled for a second dose may have their appointment delayed, but that is still within the recommended effective time frame.

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly traded QB Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles will receive a 2021 third round pick and a conditional 2022 second round pick. The 2022 second round pick can become a first round pick if Wentz plays 75% of the Colts snaps in 2021 or if he plays 70% of the snaps and the Colts make the playoffs. The Eagles drafted Wentz No. 2 in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Philadelphia 76ers C Joel Embiid has been named an NBA All-Star starter for the fourth consecutive year. The reserves will be announced next Tuesday. The NBA is holding the annual game on March 7 in Atlanta. The league had not planned on playing the game when the season started, but has decided to go ahead with the exhibition. The skills challenge, 3-point shooting, and dunk contest will also be held on March 7.
