A veteran Philadelphia police officer has been arrested for the sexual assault of a woman. 40-year-old Rahim Montgomery is charged with the sexual assault of a woman 5 years ago when she was a minor. Montgomery is a 20-year veteran of the force. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw suspended Montgomery 30 days with the intent to dismiss. Internal Affairs and Special Victims units had conducted investigations into the allegations prior to the charges.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after two brothers were violently attacked just hours apart in different locations in North Philadelphia on Thursday night, 1/21. The older brother, a 40-year-old man, was stabbed at least 9 times in the back. That happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the 2600 block of North Chadwick Street in North Philly. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. Two and a half-hours later, police responded to the 1600 block of Huntington Street in West Kensington. 16 shots were fired. The 32-year-old brother had been shot in the chest, lower back, and leg. He was taken to Temple in stable condition. "We're investigating why someone stabbed and then shot two family members," Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The two brothers lived at different addresses. Police are looking for surveillance video from the areas.
