One person is dead after an ultralight aircraft crashed in South Jersey on Monday afternoon, 1/11. It happened just before 1 p.m. in a wooded area near Tuckahoe Road and Harding Highway close to Vineland-Downstown Airport in Franklin Township, New Jersey. The aircraft took off from a private residence near Union Road in Vineland, NJ. The only person on board at the time was the pilot, 64-year-old Gerard Asselta. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says that a couple was dead inside their home in Audubon, NJ, on Monday afternoon. The discovery was made around 1 p.m. on the 100 block of Oakland Avenue. A witness had gone to the home to conduct a welfare check after not hearing from the couple since Saturday. The victims have been identified as 64-year-old Jane Venable and 63-year-old Kevin Venable. Jane had died from 'visible injuries' and Kevin had died from a gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding the deaths are under investigation. If you have any information, call 856-397-6770.

State Sen. Sarah McBride of Delaware became the first openly transgender State Senator in the country on Tuesday, 1/12. The Delaware General Assembly started their new session virtually on Tuesday. McBride was sworn in using her childhood bible outside the Claymont Community Center. The bible was held by two young trans activists, Rebekah Bruesehoff and Trinity Neal. The Claymont Community Center was formerly the Claymont High School. It was the first school in the state to be integrated. McBride represents the First Senate District in northern Delaware.
