They go into effect Saturday, 12/11 at 12:01 a.m. through Monday, 1/ 4 at 8:00 a.m. Places of worship are explicitly exempt from those restrictions. A Delaware police officer was shot and wounded and a wanted suspect was killed in a firefight outside a motel in Rehobeth Beach on Thursday night, 12/10. It happened just before 8 p.m. near the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites Resort on the 19000 block of Coastal Highway. The Milford Police officer was working as part of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. The suspect was killed in the exchange and the one officer was wounded. The extent of his injuries has not been released. The identities of the police officer and the suspect also have not been released. Delaware State Police are investigating. Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings said in a statement., "Milford is a small town with a dedicated police force - like the rest of our state, the relationships are close. The attempt on this officer and his fellow officers' lives has only been public for a short time, but I know that his entire community is hurt, angry, and rooting hard for a swift recovery."

Philadelphia Phillies have hired Dave Dombrowski as President of Baseball Operations. Dombrowski did not commit to bringing in someone for the General Manager position, but said it would be a strong possibility. Former GM Matt Klentak was reassigned elsewhere in the organization back in October. Dombrowski has a history of assembling World Series caliber teams with the Marlins, Tigers, and Red Sox. Florida won in 1997 and Boston won in 2018. "This is a great day for the Philadelphia Phillies," said managing partner John Middleton in a statement. "David Dombrowski is one of the most accomplished executives this great game has ever seen, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Philadelphia. Between David and Joe Girardi, we now have two of the best people in place to set us on the path back to where we want to be, and that is the postseason and contending for world championships."
