Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced on Saturday, 10/3, that he has tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19. Christie was at the White House beginning last Saturday, 9/26, through Tuesday, 9/29, helping President Trump prepare for the first debate. Including President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, there has been almost a dozen people connected to the White Hose that have tested positive the past few days. The others are Hope Hicks, Kellyanne Conway, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Bill Stepien, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Ronna McDaniel, and Rev. John Jenkins.

UPDATE: Christie has checked himself into the hospital.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced that Matt Klentak has stepped down as general manager. He will be reassigned to another position in the organization. Klentak served as GM for 5 years. Ned Rice will take over as interim GM as the team searches for a permanent replacement. "I have stated publicly that winning is what matters, not just in Philadelphia but in all cities and in all sports," Phillies managing partner John Middleton said in a statement. "While Matt made many significant contributions to the organization, we did not accomplish our goal of playing baseball in October. Consequently, we have mutually agreed to allow new leadership to head baseball operations."

"While I am disappointed that we failed to reach our ultimate goal, I am nevertheless very proud of the progress that this organization made over the last five years and of the people who worked so hard to make it happen," Klentak said in a statement. "I am grateful for all of the support that I received along the way from Phillies ownership, friends and colleagues, and our loyal Phillies fans."

Two Temple University students are in the hospital after falling from the roof of an off-campus home early Saturday morning, 10/3. It happened at 2 a.m. on the 1800 block of North Bouvier Street. Several students had gathered on the roof of the four-story row home during a party. Two 19-year-old females fell off the roof and onto the sidewalk of a back alley. They were found unconscious. One female was taken to Jefferson University Hospital with multiple injuries and in critical but stable condition. The other was taken to Temple University Hospital with leg and ankle injuries. Temple Police are investigating how they fell from the roof.

The Philadelphia 76ers officially named Doc Rivers as the team's new head coach on Saturday morning, 10/3. "We are thrilled to welcome Doc Rivers to Philadelphia as the new head coach of the 76ers. Doc is one of the most respected and accomplished head coaches in the NBA," Sixers General Manager Elton Brand said. "I believe Doc can help us unlock our full potential on the floor and further our pursuit of an NBA championship. I also respect and appreciate that his impact extends far beyond the basketball court as he truly embraces the platform he has to drive positive change in society. Doc is a great fit for our team and city, and I'm excited for what the future holds with him as our head coach."

"I am really excited about the opportunity to be joining a world-class franchise, a franchise whose legend inspired my nickname," Rivers said. "This is a city that loves sports and loves their teams. It's a city that values hard work and that is exactly what we are going to do and who we are going to be. We are ready to do good things in Philadelphia."
