Trump Campaign May Sue Philly Election Offices; Woman Drowns Saving Kids; Discarded Ballots 'Error'

The Trump campaign is threatening to sue if campaign officials are not granted access to observe voting activity inside Philadelphia satellite election offices. "If we have not satisfactorily resolved this matter by tomorrow [9/30] at 5 p.m., the campaign will seek court intervention," said Trump lawyer, Linda Kerns. President Trump referred to poll watchers not being allowed in the satellite election offices in last night's debate saying, "Bad things happen in Philadelphia." Technically, these offices are not polling places and poll watchers do not have any rights to be there as they would on Election Day. "The satellite offices are Board of Elections Offices that provide voter services to the residents of Philadelphia for mail-in ballots. Satellite offices are not polling places and poll watcher certificates have not been issued for any individuals for anything other than poll watching activities on Election Day at Polling Places. So individuals seeking to receive services from a satellite office are not permitted to be there for other purposes," City Commissioner Al Schmidt said in a statement. One one hand, the offices are just facilitating the mail-in voting process, albeit in one stop. On the other hand, that looks a lot like in person voting. "Because voting is occurring at these satellite offices, the Trump campaign requests that we immediately be able to appoint poll watchers to observe the voting at these satellite offices," a campaign representative said.

A Pennsylvania mother died on Tuesday afternoon, 9/29, while trying to save her three children from the ocean in North Wildwood. It happened around 3 p.m. on the 18th Street beach. The 49-year-old woman from Wernersville, Berks County was found face down in the water about 150 yards off shore. She was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center where she later died. Rescue crews were able to save her 8 and 10-year-old sons and 19-year-old daughter. The incident is under investigation. Her identity has not been released.

Pennsylvania election officials say that the decision to discard nine mail-in ballots from members of the military by a worker in Luzerne County was not "intentional fraud," but rather a "bad error." "The investigation is still going on, but from the initial reports we've been given, this was a bad error," said Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar. "This was not intentional fraud. So training, training, training." President Donald Trump has referred to the incident as evidence of fraud. The worker has been fired for his mistake. Jonathan Marks, the Pennsylvania deputy secretary for elections, says that sometimes military ballots arrive in unmarked envelopes. The worker did not follow the appropriate process to handle them. Luzerne County elections workers will be receiving additional training.
