Former Vice President Joe Biden will not be traveling to Milwaukee, WI, to attend the Democratic National Convention. It was planned the he'd accept his party's nomination for president in person and give his acceptance speech to a small crowd at the convention. Due to greater concerns over the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, the Democratic National Committee announced on Wednesday, 8/5, that the candidate will not make the trip. Biden will instead accept the nomination virtually from his home state of Delaware. The date and location of that speech has not yet been announced. All other scheduled speakers will also be addressing the convention remotely, making this an all-virtual event. It will be held Aug. 17-20, 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a 6-year-old girl was caught in the crossfire and was shot in the chest on Wednesday night, 8/5. It happened around 9 p.m. on the 900 block of North 42nd Street in the Belmont neighborhood. Two cars pulled up on the street and began firing at each other. The young girl was outside playing with friends when she was hit by a stray bullet. She was taken to Temple University Hospital where she is in stable condition. If you have any information call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw issued the following statement: "Once again, we find ourselves grieving the senseless shooting of one of our precious children. In this instance, a beautiful 6-year-old girl was shot while enjoying a warm summer evening in her neighborhood. This is not acceptable, this is not normal, and this is not something that we should ever tolerate or become immune to as a society. Our children are our future, and we all have a duty and an obligation to keep our children safe from harm."

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a 33-year-old woman was shot while on a SEPTA platform in West Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon, 8/5. It happened around 3 p.m. at the 46th Street Station of the Market Frankford Line. Police say that a group of teenagers chased another group into the train station. One teen fired three times up the escalator into a crowd and struck the woman three times in the stomach. She was rushed to hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. If you have any information call police at 215-686-TIPS.

UPDATE: Police have taken the alleged shooter into custody.
