Man Caught After Shooting At Clerk Over Mask; West Philly Child Shot in Head; 34yo Man Shot/Killed

A man wanted for shooting at a store clerk outside of a Lehigh Valley cigar shop on Friday, 7/31, after he was asked to wear a mask was arrested on Saturday after a shootout with police. 35-year-old Adam Michael Zaborowski of Slatington, PA, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, reckless endangerment, and persons prohibited to possess a firearm. It started on Friday morning at Cigars International on the 4000 block of Nazareth Pike in Bethlehem Township. Zaborowski entered the store without a mask. He was told by an employee he needed to wear a face covering or even offered to bring the cigars to the curb. Zaborowski got upset, grabbed some cigars, and left the store without paying. A clerk followed him into the parking lot. That's when he pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the employee. No one was struck. Zaborowski fled in his truck. Police were able to identify him.

On Saturday morning around 9:30 a.m., police were conducting surveillance at his home in Slatington. Zaborowski left his house and got into his truck. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Zaborowski opened fire on officers. Police returned fire and struck Zaborowski. He was taken to a hospital and is being treated for his injury. He is expected to survive.

A child is in extremely critical condition after being shot in the head on Saturday evening, 8/1, in West Philadelphia. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on the 200 block of North Simpson Street. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said that the 7-year-old old boy was on a porch playing with a toy when two groups of young men starting firing at each other. "We are committed to securing justice and promoting healing for all who are affected," she said. "While every act of gun violence is lamentable, it is especially tragic when the victim is among our most vulnerable; and it is our collective responsibility - police, and community - to ensure that our children are safe and well-protected. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the precious child and his family." An arrest was made. The boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and is said to be in "grave condition."

UPDATE: The parent's of the child have identified him as 7-year-old Zamar Jones. Police have arrested one person. They are searching for two others.



Philadelphia Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, 8/1. It happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 2000 block of North Marshall Street. 34-year-old man was shot six times. He was hit twice in the chest and 4 times in the back. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. No weapons were recovered and no arrests have been made.

Weather
Isaias was downgraded to a Tropical Storm on Saturday afternoon, 8/1, after going over the Bahamas. It is expected to strengthen again to a Category 1 Hurricane as it makes its way towards Florida. The storm will then turn and head up the East Coast over the next few days. It will likely hit our area by Tuesday. The Jersey Shore will start to feel the effects of the storm before that in the way of strong rip currents and heavy surf. Philadelphia and the surrounding areas will have heavy rain and gusty winds with the possibility of flash flooding and power outages. 4-6” of rain with 25-35mph gusts. See graphics below.
