Two vacant home collapsed in South Philadelphia on Tuesday afternoon, 7/21. It happened just after Noon on the 700 block of Mercy Street. One of the homes was completely vacant, while the other was currently under construction. Crews from Eastern Contracting were working inside this morning but were out on a lunch break when it came down. License and Inspections says that the workers did have a permit. Two cars parked on the street were crushed. L+I is inspecting the cause of the collapse. No damage was done to the neighboring buildings. Next door neighbor David Mostoller posted photos of the collapsed structures to his Instagram page. His Nest door bell camera also captured video of the collapse. See the photos and video below.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after the decomposing body of a female was discovered in the trunk of a car on the lot of a towing company in West Philadelphia. It happened around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, 7/21, at Superior Automotive on the 5000 block of Merion Avenue. An employee cleaning up outside smelled an odor and then found the body. It was in the trunk of a silver Dodge Charger with heavy front end damage. No weapon was found at the scene. Police have not revealed the age or race of the victim, how she might have died, or if she died there or was towed in with the car. The investigation is ongoing.

New Jersey has added Delaware back to its 14-day quarantine travel advisory list. Travelers to New Jersey from any of the states on the list must self-quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. That includes residents returning home from a trip. You may leave your house, hotel, or other accommodation for medical attention, essential supplies, or food. It does not apply to people traveling through the state by road, rail, or air. Nine other states have been added to the list. It now includes: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, LA, MD, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

Delaware was on the list before, then it was taken off, and now its back on. "I'm mad as hell, frankly. It doesn't make any sense," Delaware Governor John Carney said. "We're going to be on and off unless we stop testing, and we're not going to stop testing. We're going to test particularly where we think that we have an outbreak.” Carney said that Delaware recently had two days that were above one testing threshold that triggers the NJ quarantine list, but they have been mostly below it. The state is also below the second threshold. He accused New Jersey of acting on autopilot.
