A security guard is being charged for shooting three teenagers on a SEPTA bus last month that he claimed was in self defense. 24-year-old Brandon Ferguson is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. It happened around 1 a.m. on April 16 on the Route 58 SEPTA bus northbound on Bustleton Ave. in Oxford Circle. The three teens, ages 15, 16, and 17, approached Ferguson in the back of the bus. A physical altercation broke out. Ferguson told police he fired his weapon in self defense. The teens were each hit in their legs. A woman on the bus was also injured. They all survived. Ferguson had a concealed carry permit and showed officers at the scene. The charges were brought after investigators viewed surveillance video of the incident. The DA is requesting a $250,000 Sign on Bond that is conditional on Ferguson surrendering his guns and ammunition, an AR-15 and two handguns.

A Bucks County man wanted for assault was found dead inside a burning home after setting off fireworks during a barricade situation on Tuesday morning, 5/12. It started around 11 a.m. on the 600 block of Broad Street in Hilltown Township. The man had reportedly assaulted another man and then tried to break in to the Crossroads Tavern. He fled on a dirt bike and barricaded himself in a home on the 2000 block of Hilltown Pike near Route 152. The suspect set off fireworks inside the house which started a fire. After the fire was extinguished, SWAT found the man dead inside the home. The cause of death has not yet been determined. The owner of the home, who has not yet been confirmed as the suspect, was recently released from prison on home confinement for an alleged rape and kidnapping on New Year's Day.

UPDATE: The suspect is believed to be 48-year-old Curtis Fish who had been charged with rape, kidnapping to inflict injury or terror, aggregated assault, and related charges for an incident at that home on January 1. He was arrested after an 11 hour standoff with police. Fish had been released from prison pending trial due to coronavirus concerns in jail. Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub says he opposed Fish's release.

The Philadelphia Health Department announced that it will be giving away free cribs to combat sleep-related deaths in infants. "The number one preventable cause of death in infants is sleep-related deaths. The greatest risk factor for that is an infant that's put to bed not in a crib, but is set on a sofa, or an adult bed," he added. "We don't want any children in the City of Philadelphia, any infants, to be sleeping in anything other than a very safe crib." The city will be giving out free pack and play cribs to new and expectant mothers. The cribs will be delivered by Indego, the bike share company, to provide contactless delivery. If you need a crib call 267-432-5844 or 215-989-3589 or go to: https://maternitycarecoalition.org/cribs-for-kids/in-need-of-a-crib/.
