Starting on Monday, March 30, any Philadelphia residents in need will be able to pick up boxes of free food. There are about 20 pick-up sites throughout the city. They will be open Mondays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to noon. One box of food will be given for each household. Supplies will last 5 days. You do not need an ID or proof on income to get the food. This is in addition to the meals given out to school students. The city is working with Share Food Program and Philabundance. More sites will be added soon. For more information go to: https://www.phila.gov/2020-03-28-where-to-find-free-nutritious-food-during-covid-19/

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has instated a 90-day grace period on mortgages. Late payments during this period cannot be used to downgrade credit scores. "Lenders will also waive any late fees, or other costs which would otherwise arise, because of this 90-day grace period," Murphys said. Foreclosure and eviction proceedings have been halted for at least 60 days. Governor Murphy said he has worked with over 40 financial institutions on this plan. Also, under this executive order, no renter can be evicted from their home during this period. "For any landlord who is getting mortgage relief today - we expect you will in turn provide similar relief to your tenants," Murphy said. "To every landlord, now is the time to show some compassion."

President Donald Trump backed away from the idea of quarantining several Northeast states hit hard by the coronavirus COVID-19 to reduce the spread to other parts of the country. Instead, he asked the CDC to issue a 'strong Travel Advisory' for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to discourage residents from unnecessary travel. Vice President Mike Pence said the CDC is urging those residents "to refrain from non-essential travel for the next 14 days." Trump said that the Travel Advisory would "be administered by the Governors, in consultation with the Federal Government. A quarantine will not be necessary."

The travel advisory does not apply to "employees of critical infrastructure industries, including but not limited to trucking, public health professionals, financial services, and food supply. These employees of critical infrastructure, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security (https://www.cisa.gov/publication/guidance-essential-critical-infrastructure-workforce), have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules."
