The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says that a woman has been charged in the beating death of her male roommate last month using household items such as a tape dispenser and a shower rod. 56-year-old Mary Carbone is charged with murder and four weapons offenses in the death of Frank Stochel. Stochel was found dead on the floor of their shared home in Manchester, NJ. His exact cause of death has not been disclosed but authorities say that Stochel’s injuries were consistent with "the implementation of these items." A tape dispenser and a shower rod were recovered at the scene. The cause of the dispute between the two has also not been revealed.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney delivered the first budget address of his second term to City Council on Thursday, 3/5. Kenney proposed a $5.2 billion budget for the City of Philadelphia for the next fiscal year, but it does not contain any new taxes. Emphasis was given towards reducing poverty and increasing access to education. A major goal in this budget would be to make the Community College of Philadelphia free through the creation of the Octavius Catto Scholarship.

Philadelphia-based La Colombe has introduced self-heating cans so you can get hot coffee wherever you are. A simple twist on the bottom of the can starts the process and in two minutes you have a hot beverage. Right now it comes in two flavors, Brazilian and Brazilian Milk + Sugar. It is also only available at the flagship cafe in Fishtown on Frankford Ave. More flavors and locations are expected in the future. About four years ago, La Colombe CEO and Co-Founder Todd Carmichael introduced the Draft Latte in a can, which injects nitrous oxide to create a frothy drink. Those are widely available across the country.

After 11 seasons playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, left tackle Jason Peters will enter the free agent market this season on March 18th. The Eagles released a statement saying the two sides mutually agreed on having the 38-year-old Peters test the market. "We are appreciative of everything Jason has contributed to the organization over the last 11 seasons in Philadelphia, including a first-ballot Hall of Fame career and helping us win our first Super Bowl Championship," the team said. Peters made the Pro Bowl 9-times.
