The procession begins at 1:40 p.m. There will be approximately 500 Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, Deacons, and Seminarians. It will also include Knights of Columbus, Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, Order of Malta, and Knights of Peter Claver. It will start at 17th and Vine and then pass through the Cathedral Chapel into the Cathedral Basilica. The installation rite happens at the beginning of the service. When Archbishop Perez first enters into the back of the Cathedral, Reverend G. Dennis Gill, Rector, will present Perez with a crucifix and holy water which he will sprinkle on those around him. This moment signifies the new Archbishop's reception and welcome to the Cathedral Church of the Archdiocese.

The Rite of Installation follows the welcome. Archbishop Chaput will welcome Archbishop Pérez to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. An Apostolic Letter announcing the appointment of Archbishop Perez as Archbishop of Philadelphia will be read by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States. Chaput will then seat Perez in the Cathedra, aka the bishop's chair. Representatives of the Church of Philadelphia, Ecumenical and Interfaith representatives, and civil servants will be presented to the Archbishop.

The mass itself begins at 2 p.m. No tickets are required to attend. Besides reserved sections for the Perez family and the priests/deacons, most of the Cathedral is general admission. Around 2,000 people are expected to attend. The chapel will also be open for overflow seating with video monitors to view the service. The Cathedral doors will open at 12:30 p.m. If you are attending, you will asked to be in your seats by 1:15 p.m.

The mass will feature a 171 person choir including an Hispanpic choir and an African American choir. There will be multiple languages used throughout the service to represent the diversity of the Catholic population in the Archdiocese including Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language. Following mass, Archbishop Perez will be available to greet everyone who attends.
