Philadelphia Police are investigating after racist graffiti was spray-painted on a mural of Cecil B. Moore in North Philly on Saturday, 2/15. It happened sometime before dawn at the mural located at the corner of Bouvier and Jefferson Streets. The profane message included the F-word and N-word. Moore is celebrated as one of Philadelphia's civil rights leaders. He moved to Philadelphia after serving in World War II. He became a lawyer, president of the Philadelphia NAACP, and member of City Council. He lived with his family in the North Philly neighborhood where his mural now stands and which is often referred to as the Cecil B. Moore section. Mural Arts released a statement, saying in part, "We condemn defacing of public art, especially with racist slurs of one of Philadelphia's great leaders." If you have any information, contact police at 215-686-3093/3094.

An argument outside of an after hours club in the Olney neighborhood led to a triple shooting early Saturday morning, 2/15. It happened just after 4 a.m. outside of Tres Fuego Louge on the 5700 block of North 2nd Street. A woman was shot twice in the stomach. She was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. A man was was shot three times in the arm and shoulder. Another man was shot in the leg. They were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The victims are in their 20s. Police found 26 shell casings at the scene. Investigators are looking into surveillance video. No arrests have been made.

A 17-year-old was shot in a police-involved shooting after police say he reached for a weapon during an arrest on Friday night, 2/14. It happened around 9 p.m. near near 28th and Somerset Streets in the Allegheny West section of North Philadelphia. Police were responding to the report of an armed robbery near 22nd and Somerset Streets. The 17-year-old matched the description of the robbery suspect and was stopped by police. "During the course of the investigation, they performed a pat-down, they detected what they believed to be a weapon in his waistband," Philadelphia Police Staff Inspector Sekou Kinebrew said. "That male reached for that weapon. The officers engaged in a brief struggle with that individual and during the course of that struggle, one of the officers discharged his firearm approximately three times." The teen was shot twice in his leg and once in the back. He was taken to Temple University Hospital. He is in critical but stable condition. A revolver was recovered from the suspect. "At this point we're uncertain if this is the person that committed that robbery. At this point, to be completely accurate, we don't believe it's the person that committed the robbery, but all of that is still under investigation," Kinebrew said.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced on Saturday, 2/15, that All-Star Game MVP award will be renamed in honor of Kobe Bryant. Bryant made the All-Star team 18 times during his career.
