Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect wanted for the rape of a woman in Love Park early Saturday morning, 1/25. It happened in the Center City park at 5:20 a.m. The 41-year-old woman was on her way to work. She had just gotten of the train at 15th Street and was walking through the park. She said the suspect came up from behind her, punched her, and knocked her to the ground. He then raped her. Witnesses heard the woman screaming and called 911. Police arrived and chased the suspect but he disappeared into the subway tunnels. If you have any information, call police at 215-686-TIPS.

UPDATE: The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police is now offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the alleged attacker.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's office announced charges on Tuesday, 1/28, against a man after a body was discovered wrapped in a blanket in the trunk of a burning Jeep last week in South Philadelphia. 39-year-old Luis Cruz is charged with murder, arson, abuse of a corpse, obstruction of justice and other crimes in the death of a 43-year-old Joslyn Morgan. Morgan was found last Tuesday, 1/21, in a parking lot on the 2700 block of S. 3rd Street. Authorities were called because of smoke coming from a Jeep Wrangler. Morgan had a gunshot to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police executed a search warrant at Cruz's home on Saturday, 1/25, and found evidence linking him to the crime. He confessed key details of the crime to detectives including his attempt to dismember and destroy the body. Morgan had contracted Cruz to perform work on his roof. The two had a "falling out" when Morgan was not satisfied with the work and refused to pay. "This shocking crime required a significant and thoughtful investigation. I thank the Philadelphia Police Department and my office's Homicide Unit for their expedient and careful work in tracing this murder back to Luis Cruz, who appears to have taken a man's life over an argument about the quality of his roofing work," District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement. "Because of this murder, a man is forever lost to his family and community."

The man accused of stealing $500,000 worth of jewelry belonging to former Sixers star Allen Iverson has surrendered to police. 21-year-old Christopher Daniel is charged with two counts of theft. He has confessed to the crime and has returned the jewelry. It happened on Monday morning, 1/27, in the lobby of Sofitel Hotel at 17th and Sansom Streets in Center City. Surveillance cameras in the hotel caught Daniel grabbing a backpack full of the jewelry after it was put on a chair by Iverson's associate. The basketball star was not present in the lobby at the time. Daniel turned himself in after seeing his picture released by police to the media.
