Ex Arrested in Lower Moreland Murder; Woman Charged in SEPTA Assault; Deadly Roadhouse Inn Fire

The ex-boyfriend of a Lower Moreland woman has been arrested after fatally shooting her inside her home on Monday evening, 11/25. 61-year-old William Torres, of Elkton, Maryland has been charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, simple assault recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime in the death of 57-year-old Jeanne Edwards. It happened just before 5:30 p.m. on the 2300 block of Dale Road in Huntingdon Valley. Police found Edwards in her house suffering from a gun shot wound and transported her to Abington Hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed she had died from multiple shotgun wounds. Prosecutors say that Edward's son had just pulled into the driveway when he heard a shot. He went inside and found his mother's ex-boyfriend pointing a shotgun at him. He then left and called 911. Torres fled and went to his current girlfriend's house in Limerick. He confessed to the shooting to her and she called police to arrange his surrender. Torres is being held without bond at to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

A 23-year-old North Philadelphia woman has been arrested for assaulting an elderly woman on a SEPTA bus last month. Anaysha Muhammad surrendered to police on Tuesday morning, 11/26, after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses. It happened around 7 p.m. on October 29 on the Route 70 bus. Muhammad was caught on camera striking a 69-year-old woman on the nose. The victim suffered serious facial injuries.

One person was killed and another injured in a fire at a restaurant and lodging inn in Bucks County on Tuesday afternoon, 11/26. It happened at the Roadhouse Inn around 3:30 p.m. on the 2200 block of New Falls Road in Bristol Township. Flames were shooting from the second floor and roof when firefighters arrived. The second floor of the building has rooms for rent. The fatal victim has not been identified. The injured person was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. The Red Cross is helping with 12 people who have been displaced.
