Whitney Houston Coroner Report Rules Drowning and Cocaine Use

The LA coroner's report has been issued today, ending weeks of speculation into how 48-year-old singer, Whitney Houston, died before she was found submerged in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills Hotel suite on February 11, the day before the Grammy's.

The coroner has ruled Houston's death an accidental drowning. She did have traces of marijuana, the anti-anxiety medication Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril as well as Benadryl in her system. But the coroner's office concluded that those drugs did not contribute to her death.

Whitney has long battled addiction problems. The coroner did say that cocaine played a role in the death but did not say how much was in her system. None was found in her room, but her toxicology suggested chronic use.

Whitney also suffered from a heart condition atherosclerotic heart disease which would be accerbated by drug use. She could very easily have had a heart attack and then drown.
