A small plane crashed into a wooded area near an airport in Central Jersey and came to rest in a tree on Tuesday afternoon, 9/24. It happened before 12:30 p.m near Central Jersey Regional Airport in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey. The preliminary investigation revealed that the engine stalled when the plane attempted to land. It stopped about 600 yards from the runway and 75 feet up in a tree. The 33-year-old pilot was the only one on board. He was not injured but it took until 4:00 p.m. until rescuers could remove him from the wreck. The Federal Aviation Administration and NTSB will perform a full investigation.

A man was killed and 2 others injured including a child in a multi-vehicle accident on I-95 in Delaware on Tuesday evening, 9/24. It happened around 5 p.m. near Rt. 72 in Newark. A tractor-trailer and another vehicle were involved. Both northbound and southbound lanes are closed. A man was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and child were rushed to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. No word on the cause of the crash. Avoid the area if possible.

UPDATE: A 9-year-old girl has died following this crash. The tractor-trailer failed to stop for traffic and slammed into the rear of a Nissan Sentra. It continued down the highway and hit a Honda and a Toyota. The male driver of the Nissan was dead at the scene. The female driver of the Honda was taken to Christiana Hospital. The girl was a passenger in the Honda and was taken to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children where she died from her injuries. The 45-year-old male driver of the Toyota and the 39-year-old male driver of the tractor-trailer had non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities believe that a candle is to blame for an apartment building fire in Delaware on Tuesday, 9/24. It happened around 5:45 p.m. at the Fairfield Apartments on the unit block of Country Club Drive in Newark. The fire started in a third floor unit and ended up damaging 11 units. No one was injured. The Red Cross of Delmarva is assisting residents.
