A Delaware day care worker has been arrested in the death of a 4-month-old child. 19-year-old Dejoynay Ferguson is charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Dolores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on $1 million cash bail. Police were called to the Little People Child Development Center on the 3800 block of Wrangle Hill Road on Thursday morning, 9/5, for the report of an unresponsive infant. The girl was taken to Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police reviewed surveillance footage from the day center. They saw Ferguson put the child on a changing table, put on latex gloves, and then cover the child's mouth and nose for several minutes until she became unresponsive. Ferguson placed the baby back in her crib and waited 20 minutes before notifying the daycare owner that the child was unresponsive. The Office of Childcare Licensing has suspended the license of the facility indefinitely.

Philadelphia Police are looking for several young boys wanted for burglarizing an Xfinity store in South Philadelphia last week. It happened around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, 8/25, on the 1300 block of South Columbus Boulevard. Surveillance video released by police shows the boys throwing rocks, kicking, and swinging a traffic cone to break through the glass doors. Once inside, they take electronic merchandise from the shelves and display cases before fleeing. If you have any information, call police at 215-686-3093/3094.

Hurricane Dorian is still a Category 1 hurricane churning off the coast of North Carolina, but we are feeling some effects from the storm in our area today. The Philadelphia area will only get cloudy skies and the occasional light shower with temperatures in the upper 60s. Cape May County, NJ, and Sussex County, DE, are under Tropical Storm Warnings. The tropical storm warning goes from Fenwick Island, Delaware up to Great Egg Inlet, New Jersey. Other areas down the shore are also under High Surf Advisories for 6-10' waves, Coastal Flood Watches, and Small Craft Advisories. The coastal areas are not expected to see much heavy rain as Dorian is pulling away, but could see winds 25-35 with 40mph gusts.
