Teens Arrested For KOP Carjacking; Search For Gunman in SW Philly; Robber Points Gun at 9yo

Three teenagers are under arrest after they attacked a King of Prussia Mall employee, stole her vehicle, and then led police on a chase before crashing into a SEPTA bus in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, 9/3. 17-year-old suspects Ellijah Simmons and Nyshay Hanton will be charged as adults with robbery of a vehicle and aggravated assault. They were arraigned in the hospital. A 14-year-old girl was taken to a Montgomery County facility. It started around 9:40 p.m. The three teens approached a woman walking to her car after working at the mall. The boy asked if he could borrow her phone. The victim was then grabbed from behind, placed in a chokehold, punched, and thrown to the ground. They stole her stole her 2005 Toyota Highlander. Police chased the suspects along I-76 eastbound towards Philadelphia. The teens exited at Spring Garden Street and crashed into a SEPTA bus at Spring Garden and North 37th Street in Mantua. Several passengers on the bus, including the driver, had minor injuries.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a gunman that opened fire on a plainclothes officer in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday night, 9/3. It happened just before 7 p.m. near Kingsessing Avenue and South Sanford Street. The officer was sitting in an unmarked car doing surveillance when the suspect walked up and started shooting at the driver's side of the vehicle. Police recovered 8 shell casings from the scene. The officer was not injured. Despite police efforts to search the area last night, the suspect slipped away. He is described as a black male, 6 feet tall, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police may have a lead. "They have someone who is a person of interest not in custody. They may know who may be connected to the ongoing violence," acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter said. Anyone with any information should call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect wanted for pointing a gun at a 9-year-old during an armed robbery at a market last week in Spring Garden. It happened on Wednesday, 8/28, at the Trebol Market on the 1100 block of Spring Garden Street. The man pointed a gun at the young boy and took $800 from the register before fleeing in an unknown direction. The suspect was caught on surveillance video at the store. He is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20’s, 5-foot-7-inches tall, thin build, with long brown hair which was pulled back, and has a mustache and beard. He also has notable tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts and black and white Nike sneakers.
