Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in finding a bandit that robbed a gas station by cutting a hole in the roof on Wednesday morning, 7/17. It happened just after midnight at the Sunoco Station at 8019 Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill. The incident was caught on the store's surveillance video. The suspect jumped into the store from a hole they cut on the roof and landed on a shelf before jumping to the floor. They then pried open the ATM machine with a crowbar and stole $8,120. Police believe a second suspect was waiting on the roof. If you have any information contact Central Detective Division: 215-686-3353/3354.

Some residents were evacuated after partial power outage at a residence for seniors and the disabled in Philadelphia on Friday morning, 7/19. It happened around 8:30 a.m. at the 12-story Pavilion apartments at 3901 Conshohocken Ave. in the Wynnefield Heights neighborhood. 290 units were affected by the outage. Firefighters arrived to help residents get out of the building. The elevators were not working so getting down the stairs presented the biggest difficulty for many. Not all units were effected and some people sheltered with their neighbors. On the ground, SEPTA has provided air conditioned buses to house residents to stay out of the heat. The Red Cross is on the scene providing water. PECO says that the issue appears to be internal. A backup generator is running. Medics are on the scene, but no one has been reported injured at this time. Officials are working to restore power but there is no timeline.

The heat wave continues in the Philadelphia area and it is only going to get worse heading into the weekend. Friday's high was in the mid/upper 90s with heat index around 105. Saturday and Sunday will have actual highs around 100 degrees with heat indices from 110-115. The record high for Saturday is 99. The record for Sunday is 100. Both records were set back in 1930 and are in jeopardy of falling this weekend. A break in the heat comes on Monday with a few thunderstorms and a high of 88, but Tuesday will feel even better with a drop in humidity and high 82. Children, elderly, and pets are most vulnerable, check on your neighbors. Drink lots of water, avoid caffeine and alcohol. Stay out of direct sun and limit outside activity. Try to find air conditioning if possible.

A small earthquake rattled Berks County this afternoon, 7/19. The United States Geological Survey recorded a 2.2 magnitude earthquake near Spring Ridge around 1:11 p.m. (SEE QUAKE INFO). Spring Ridge is just west of Reading and close to Wissinoming. There were many reports from people who felt and heard the quake.
