Woman Robbed/Sexually Assaulted in CC; Sheriff's Son Shot and Injured; Branch Falls/Kills NJ Girl

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect wanted for robbing and sexually assaulting a woman in Center City on Sunday morning, 7/7. It happened before 6 a.m. in a parking lot on the 1200 block of Latimer Street, near 12th and Locust. The 37-year-old woman was grabbed and dragged into the parking. She was raped and robbed. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black shirt and pants. He fled in a red car with Pennsylvania tags. Police are looking into surveillance in the area. The son of Philadelphia's Sheriff was injured in a double shooting in North Philadelphia on Friday evening, 7/5. It happened around 5:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of West Clearfield Street. The two victims had been working on a house when shots rang out. 39-year-old Jewell Williams Jr. was struck three times and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Another 37-year-old man was shot multiple times and died at the hospital. His identity has not been released. Police say that a weapon was recovered. Philadelphia Sheriff Jewell Williams lost his bid for another term at the May primaries. "Sheriff Williams is obviously very upset and concerned for his son and says this is just the latest tragic example of the gun violence epidemic in our city," a spokesperson said.

A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by a falling branch at a campground in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, 7/7. It happened around 2 p.m. at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park at Tall Pines in Elmer. The girl was inside her tent at the campground when she was hit by the branch. She was taken to Inspira Medical Center Elmer where she was pronounced dead. The cause of the falling branch is under investigation.
