A woman who was riding her bike through Philadelphia's Queen Village neighborhood on Thursday evening, 6/27, was attacked by a teenager who was wielding a plastic shovel. It happened around 8 p.m. on 5th Street near Catharine St. The victim, Rachel, was running an errand on her bike when she approached a group of teenagers standing in the street. "He stepped over, swung and hit me, and was standing a few feet away," she said. A neighbor recorded some video of the incident right after Rachel was hit. The teen can be seen standing in the intersection holding a blue shovel, with other boys and girls standing around. A driver stopped to defend the victim and got into a yelling match with the kids. Rachel said that one of the girls did come up to ask if she was hurt, but only to say 'I hope you're hurt.' South Detectives are investigating the incident.
