10 cadets at the Philadelphia Police Academy have resigned after they had planned on cheating on an exam, but were discovered before actually taking the test. All ten cadets were members of the same platoon and the test in question was the motor vehicle code written exam. "One of the members of that platoon had obtained the answers to the test - which by the way, would have been an open-book test anyway - he obtained the answers to the test and began distributing them to several of his classmates," Philadelphia Police Capt. Sekou Kinebrew said. "This was detected by another recruit who immediately reported it to his superiors." An investigation was launched, but the 10 recruits resigned. They would have been rejected had they not.

A 73-year-old Bucks County woman killed a venomous cobra with a shovel after discovering the exotic animal in her yard on Monday, 6/24. Kathy Kehoe of Falls Township says that she looked out her apartment door because the blue jays were squawking. She saw the 4.5 foot cobra on her patio. She grabbed a shovel, followed in into the yard, and killed it. Kehoe says she was concerned for kids playing in the neighborhood. Police are not sure where the snake came from, but in March authorities did remove many venomous snakes, including cobras, from a neighboring apartment. If you see a snake or other deadly creature, it is recommended that you call authorities first.

A woman was killed and two other injured in a triple shooting in South Philadelphia on Monday night, 6/24. It happened around 9:40 p.m. on the 2100 block of Bailey Terrace. A 42-year-old woman was shot in the neck. She was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. A 51-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man were also shot. The 59-year-old was shot in the hip and is in stable condition. The 51-year-old was shot once in the thigh and is in critical condition. Police believe this stemmed from a domestic incident. Two people were stabbed in that incident. Those two arrived at HUP. Authorities believe one of those two stabbing victims was the shooter. If you have any information call police at 215-686-TIPS.
