Philadelphia Phillies centerfielder Odubel Herrera was arrested on Monday night, 5/27, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at an Atlantic City hotel and casino. It happened around 8:30 p.m. at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino on the 600 block of Huron Avenue. Atlantic City police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident. The victim, a 20-year-old woman from Philadelphia, had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck from a dispute. She refused medical attention. Police arrested 27-year-old David Odubel Herrera in his hotel room without incident. He is charged with simple assault and was released on a summons with a future court date. If you have any information about this incident, contact police at 609-347-5766.

The Phillies released this statement on Tuesday afternoon:
"This morning we were made aware of an alleged incident involving Odubel Herrera. Upon receiving this information, we immediately reported the incident to Major League Baseball, which has informed us that Herrera has been placed on Administrative Leave. The Phillies take any domestic violence accusation seriously, and strongly support the Joint Domestic Violence Policy agreed upon by MLB and the MLBPA."

Cherry Hill police have arrested a man wanted for cutting Verizon Fios fiber optic lines, copper wire, and damaging other communication equipment in April and May. 38-year-old David Reidenbaker of Southamption, Burlington County, was charged with the interruption or impairment of public communications, theft, drug offenses, and other crimes. It happened on at least 10 different occasions throughout Burlington and Camden counties. Reidenbaker was stealing the wire to sell for scrap. He caused thousands in damage and cut off internet and landline service to communities. There was a $10,000 reward. No word on if someone will be able to claim it.

One man was killed and five other people were injured in a shooting in Trenton on Monday night, 5/27. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue. 18-year-old Unique Anderson of Trenton was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead. The other five victims were taken to area hospitals. They include a 22-year-old man from Trenton, a 20-year-old man from Edgewater Park, a 20-year-old woman from Trenton, a 19-year-old man from Trenton and a 18-year-old man from Hamilton. This shooting comes after 10 people were shot outside a bar in Trenton over the weekend. Police say the two do not appear connected.

Weather
A Tornado Watch is in effect for most of the area until 10 p.m. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rain are expected this afternoon and evening.
