Smoking Ban on NJ Beaches/Parks; RiverRink Summerfest Open; St. Charles Seminary Sold

A smoking and vaping ban is in effect on all New Jersey beaches this summer. The law was passed and signed by Governor Phil Murphy last year. It is $250 for a first violation, $500 for a second violation, and $1,000 for each subsequent violation. The law does not specify who would enforce the new law, but left it up to each community to determine whether it’s lifeguards, special police officers, regular police officers, beach badge checkers, or someone else would write citations. Wildwood Crest was the only town to set up special smoking areas on the beach for smokers. The ban also applies to state parks.

Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest is now open 7 days a week until 1 a.m. through the end of September. It is the perfect way to experience the Delaware River and Penns Landing and it's free to enter. Outdoor roller skating, mini-golf, games, rides, and concessions are pay-as-you-go. For more information go to:

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that it has sold the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary property in Lower Merion, Montgomery County to Main Line Health. The 75-acre campus at City Ave and Lancaster Ave in Wynnewood has been used since 1871. There are 19 buildings on the grounds. Main Line Heath owns Lankenau Medical Center, which is directly across Lancaster Ave from the seminary, as well as five other hospitals and health centers in the Philadelphia area. The seminary will continue to operate at the property for the next five years. The seminary plans to move near Nuemann University in Aston, Delaware County. The Archdiocese, Main Line Health, and Lower Merion Township will still need to work out how to deal with the lands and the historic designations of the property. The sale price was not disclosed.
