Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf proclaimed Thursday, May 23, which is the 143rd day of the year, as '1-4-3 Day' in honor of Mister Fred Rogers. Mr. Rogers liked to use the numbers '1-4-3' to say 'I love you' referring to the number of letters in each word. Thursday would be Pennsylvania's first statewide day of kindness. Gov. Wolf tweeted, 'As governor, I’ve met countless Pennsylvanians. And I know we’re genuinely nice people. Join me in spreading love today and seeing just how far a little kindness can go.'

Residents are encouraged to share their acts of kindness and good deeds with each other using #143DayinPA. Use the 'Kindness Generator' http://pa.gov/143-day to get ideas.

Mister Rogers was a native Pennsylvanian, born in Latrobe. His long running children's program was produced at WQED in Pittsburgh from 1968-2001. He would end each show saying, "You've made this day a special day, by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you; and I like you just the way you are." Mister Rogers was everyone's favorite neighbor, and today was a beautiful day.
