Philadelphia Police believe drag racing led to a deadly crash that killed a young man near the Sports Complex late Saturday night, 4/6. It happened around 11:45 p.m. Saturday near 7th Street and Pattison Avenue. The 23-year-old man was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Pattison Ave at high speed. Witnesses say he was street racing with an unknown vehicle. The Jeep lost control and hit several trees and a wrought iron fence before bursting into flames. The car was completely destroyed. Investigators are asking for anyone with information about the other vehicle or driver to contact police.

UPDATE: Family and friends have identified the victim as 23-year-old Elias Torres of Northeast Philadelphia. Torres is the father of a one-year-old daughter. (see photo below)

A father and young son are dead after a fire broke out in a building they were living in in Delaware County on Sunday morning, 4/7. It happened around 3 a.m. at a two-story apartment building at 3rd Street and Concord Avenue in Chester. Firefighters arrived to find thick smoke coming from the second floor. 45-year-old Ralph Freeman was found dead at the scene. Rescuers were able to pull his 8-year-old and 4-year-old sons from the building. However, the 8-year-old died later at the hospital. The 4-year-old remains in critical condition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The building used to have businesses on the first floor and apartments on the second, but has been vacant for some time. Chester Fire Department Commissioner William Rigby said "There were partition walls that were removed and other ones that were put in place and there was just a lot of debris in the way up there." He noted the building isn't built for someone to live in.

Philadelphia Police confiscated $1,000s worth of heroin in a drug bust in West Philly. The 19th District tweeted a photo of a sack full of heroin bundles worth approximately $20,000. The drugs were taken off the street as part of "Operation Pin Point."
