The reward is now $35,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the shooting death of the son of a Philadelphia police chief inspector over the weekend. It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday, 3/30, in FDR Park on the 1400 block of Pattison Avenue. 20-year-old Nicholas Flacco, son of Internal Affairs Chief Inspector Chris Flacco, was shot and killed after his friends dared the gunman to shoot. Nick was tailgating with friends after the Phillies game in the park. At one point there was a fight between two groups of females. A woman threatened "to call her man" and "they should be afraid." The man showed up with a revolver. "The male fired a shot into the air and was reportedly confronted by two of the decedent's friends," Homicide Captain Jason Smith said. "They encouraged the male to shoot them, because they didn't believe the gun was real at the time. The male fired a second time to the side of the individuals, and then fled he area." The gunman returned a short time later. "He pointed the revolver at Mr. Flacco and fired one time, striking him in the chest," Smith said. Flacco was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian Hospital a short time later. The anonymous tip line is 215-686-TIPS.

April is "Distracted Driving Awareness Month" and police in New Jersey will be cracking down on "texting while driving" violations. The campaign is called, "U Drive, U Text, U Pay." Officers will be on the look out for drivers who are using cell phones or smart phones to talk or text while driving. First offenses will be fined $200 to $400, second offenses will be fined $400 to $600, and a third or subsequent offense will face a fine of $600 to $800, three motor vehicle points, and a possible 90-day license suspension. Distracted driving was a contributing factor in 53 percent of crashes in the state of New Jersey in 2016. For more information go to: Crackdown Overview

Multiple airlines experienced delays on Monday morning, 4/1, due to computer outages. The outage was due to a technical issue with a program called AeroData. The third party program is used by many airlines to measure weight and balance to determine whether flights can take off. Delta, Southwest, United, American, Jet Blue, and Alaska were some of the airlines affected. The issue was resolved after about 45 minutes.
