Josh Hupperterz Found Guilty in Murder of Temple Student Jenna Burleigh. Gets Life Without Parole.

A Philadelphia jury has found Joshua Hupperterz guilty on all counts for the August 2017 murder of 22-year-old Temple University student Jenna Burleigh. The jury deliberated for about an hour-and-a-half on Thursday afternoon, 1/17, before coming to the verdict. Hupperterz was immediately sentenced to the mandatory life without parole. He was also sentenced to two and a half to five years for possession of an instrument of crime; one to two years for abuse of a corpse and one to two years for tampering with physical evidence. At the start of the trial he pled guilty to abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

Hupperterz and Burleigh met at Pub Webb, a bar near Temple's campus, on August 31, 2017. The two went back to Hupperterz's nearby apartment at the end of the night. That is where prosecutors say he killed the student during an argument over sex. He placed her body in a plastic storage bin. The next day he took a ride share to his grandmother's property in the Poconos where he left the body and bin inside a shed. The defense tried to say that Hupperterz's roommate killed Burleigh, but he testified that he was asleep the whole night. Forensic evidence presented by prosecutors pointed at Hupperterz. During closing arguments earlier on Thursday, assistant DA Jason Grenell said, "It is almost inconceivable. Thrown away, treated like trash... how could somebody do that?"
