Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson ended months of speculation and officially announced that Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles will be the starting quarterback this Thursday night for Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season. The Eagles play the Atlanta Falcon at Lincoln Financial Field. "In the best interest of everything about the football team and this decision, Nick Foles is the starter Week 1. It's about the football team and the best interest of the 53," said Pederson. Carson Wentz continues to recover from a torn ACL and LCL to his left knee suffered last December. Although, Wentz has looked good in practice throughout training camp, he has not yet been cleared for contact.

A couple from Delaware have been arrested for stealing crabs from a commercial crabber. 35-year-olds Matthew and Patricia Ewing of Frederica are charged with one count each of theft under $1,500 and 22 counts each of lifting a commercial crab pot belonging to another commercial fisherman and unlawful taking of shellfish. The crimes were investigated by Delaware Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers. Matthew, who is also a licensed Delaware commercial crabber, was released on $2,300 unsecured bond. Patricia was released on a $1,100 unsecured bond.

An out-of-control driver who smashed into several parked cars in South Philadelphia early Monday morning is blaming a squirrel. It happened just before 3 a.m. near 17th and Fitzwater Streets. The driver was coming down 17th and swerved to avoid the squirrel losing control of his vehicle. He smashed into 4 parked cars and his car ended up on its side. First responders had to pull him out the front window. He suffered only a few minor scratches and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
