A woman climbed the base of the Statue of Liberty around 3 p.m. this afternoon, 7/4. National Park Service authorities are still trying to get her down. U.S. Parks Police evacuated Liberty Island. Seven other people with a group called Rise and Resist were arrested today. They were protesting immigration policy and had unfurled a large banner that said "Abolish ICE."

UPDATE: Authorities have reached the woman and brought back down off of the base of the statue safely.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a man wanted for an alleged armed sexual assault of a teenage girl at a Center City SEPTA station on Tuesday night, 7/3. It happened just before 10 p.m. on the 1400 block of JFK Boulevard at the southbound platform of the City Hall Station. Police say that the suspect walked up behind the 17-year-old victim armed with a gun, grabbed her, and performed a sex act. The suspect then fled the scene. He was captured on surveillance cameras. (see photo below) He is believed to be in his 20s. He was wearing a tan hat, white hooded sweatshirt with red and blue stripes on the sleeve, grey sweatpants and red sneakers. The The Philadelphia Police Department Special Victim's Unit is investigating with help from the SEPTA Police Department.

UPDATE: Police now have a person of interest in custody.

A man wanted on warrants was taken into custody after leading police on a wild chase that ended in a crash in Chester County early Wednesday morning, 7/4. 32-year-old Joseph Morrell of Honey Brook was pulled over by Westtown-East Goshen Police. He did not have a driver's license and told police a fake name before he sped off. The pursuit ended in a crash at Paoli Pike and Prospect Avenue in West Goshen. He was taken to Paoli Hospital for minor injuries. Morrell was wanted on warrants in Chester County, Berks County, and Sebring, Florida.

Weather
Tonight, Partly Cloudy, chance of shower/t-storm, temperatures in the mid 80s this evening in Center city
