Protestors clashed with police on Tuesday, 7/2, in Center City Philadelphia as officers tried to clear away an encampment outside of the entrance to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office at 8th and Cherry Streets. Twenty-nine people were arrested and received citations for failure to disperse. Two people sustained minor injuries. There were some skirmishes amid the chaos as police took demonstrators into custody. The protestors had been there since Monday, 7/2. They were calling for the dismantling of ICE and the shutdown of the Berks County Residential Center.

A massive water main break in Center City on Tuesday morning caused millions of gallons to flood the streets and left behind a muddy mess and damaged businesses. It happened around 4 a.m. in the area south of City Hall and east of Broad Street. The 48-inch main that broke was built in 1920s and sent about 14 to 15 million gallons of water into the streets. Sansom Street from Broad to 13th and Juniper Street from Chestnut to Walnut will be closed until further notice. Many basements were flooded in the area and forced the closure of businesses and restaurants whose inventory, refrigerators, and other equipment were stored downstairs.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have intercepted a shipment of fake Super Bowl rings of various winning teams including the Philadelphia Eagles. The express consignment parcel arrived on June 18th from Hong Kong marked as alloy rings. Customs checked with the NFL to determine if the 108 rings were authentic. They were determined to be fake. Authentic replica rings can cost around $10,000, but fake rings sell for only $25.

Weather
Tonight, Scattered Thunderstorms, temperatures in the mid 70s this evening in Center City.

Wednesday, 4th of July, Mostly cloudy, stray shower or thunderstorm possible, High near 90.
