The Chester County District Attorney's office says that a 4-year-old girl was taken from her home in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted. It happened on June 10 around 3:30 a.m. in Avondale. DA Tom Hogan says that 35-year-old Humberto Guzman-Garcia of Avondale randomly knocked on the apartment door and the little girl answered. He snatched her as her parent's slept. The girl's father soon noticed she was not in her room and started searching. He found her out back behind a shed being held down by Guzman-Garcia. He had his pants unbuckled. Guzman-Garcia ran away but was found hiding in an abandoned car. He is charged with kidnapping, aggravated indecent assault, attempted rape, and related charges. He is in Chester County Prison in lieu of $500,000 cash bail. "The little girl, when we later talked to her, told us a monster came and took her out of the house," said Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan.

The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Northeast Pennsylvania on Wednesday night, 6/13. The NWS in Binghamton, New York, sent teams in on Thursday to assess the damage. The tornado that touched down in Wilkes-Barre was rated EF2 with 130 mph winds. Rooftops were torn off, cars overturned, and storefronts smashed. There were 6 minor injuries reported. The other tornado in nearby Franklin Township, Bradford County, was still being assessed. That tornado also caused damage to structures and several homes. No injuries were reported.

The first phase of the Reading Viaduct Rail Park opened on Thursday. This quarter-mile stretch is just the beginning of what will be a 3-mile elevated park repurposing the old Reading Railroad line that cuts through the Callowhill neighborhood. It features green space, walking space, and sitting space in the form of large industrial swings. Enjoy a stroll, have some lunch, or take in the views of the city skyline.
