The snow is already falling as the fourth nor'easter this month creeps into the Philadelphia region. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6pm Tuesday to 2am Thursday. Forecasters say this storm will come in two parts. Tonight, expect a wintry mix of precipitation, snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Accumulations will range from 1-3 inches. Overnight, the second part of the storm will intensify and begin to move up the coast. Wednesday will see heavy winds 20-30mph, gusts to 40, with periods of heavy snow. The latest predictions from the National Weather Service have a wide area with 12-18 inches of total accumulations across the area.

The Philadelphia School District and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that all high schools and grade schools in the city will be closed on Wednesday. Many school dismissed early on Tuesday as well. You can find the full list of school closings at here. A Code Blue is now in effect in Philadelphia and a Snow Emergency has been declared. Many area townships and municipalities are declaring snow emergencies, be careful not to park on snow emergency routes.

SEPTA announced that the Regional Rail will run on a severe storm schedule on Wednesday. That means it will run on a Saturday schedule and may reduce the number of trains. PATCO will also run a snow schedule starting at midnight.

Beginning at 8 pm, PennDOT is imposing a ban on empty straight CDL-weighted trucks, tractors hauling double trailers, tractors hauling empty trailers, trailers pulled by passenger vehicles or pick-up trucks, motorcycles and recreational vehicles, or RVs on area interstates including 76, 476, 95, and 276.
