A former student opened fire at a South Florida high school on Wednesday afternoon killing at least 17 people. It happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, about 45 miles north of Miami. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel says 19-year-old suspect Nikolaus Cruz is in custody. He was previously expelled for disciplinary reasons. Witnesses say that Cruz pulled a fire alarm near the end of the school day before opening fire. Most of the victims were inside the school, some were outside. Israel say that Cruz had a rifle and multiple magazines. 14 others were injured. Authorities are working on determining a motive.

A man died trying to rescue his dog from a hole in Fairmount Park. The discovery was made at 2 p.m. in a grassy area on the 4700 block of South Concourse Drive. A woman saw the man's leg sticking out of the 2.5 x 6 foot hole. After pulling out the man's body, the dog was found dead underneath. Police believe he got stuck while attempting to save the dog. If you have any information, call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Philadelphia Judge Genece Brinkley has scheduled a hearing for April after attorneys for rapper Meek Mill, aka Robert Williams, filed a Post-Conviction Relief Act petition today. Mill is currently serving 2-4 years in state prison for violating his probation stemming from a 2008 drug and gun conviction. The credibility of the arresting officer in that original case, Officer Reginald Graham, is under question. It has been revealed that Graham's name is on a secret list of police officers maintained by the District Attorney's office who are not considered credible witnesses. Also, two former Philadelphia officers have provided sworn affidavits that contradict Graham's testimony at Mill's original trial. Mill's lawyers are requesting that he be let out on bond and granted a new trial.
